Part 8: This Article

When Lulu declares family decorating time, the Warband’s first Winter Veil in their new home erupts into tinsel, tangled lights, and a wedged tree. Through Brass’s grumbling, Vyr’s wonder, and Avel’s quiet realization, six sisters who chose each other learn home isn’t a house—it’s family.

The Setup
#

Lulu—6'4" Darkspear druid with emerald hair and zero boundaries—burst through the door, arms full of pine branches and something that might be a trapped squirrel.

Lulu: “FAMILY DECORATING TIME!”

Brass—58-year-old goblin with sapphire-blue hair and perpetual exasperation—counting copper on the new dining table: “Kid, we just bought the place. Can we have ONE quiet week—”

Lulu: “Winter Veil waits for no goblin!” (drapes greenery over Brass’s sapphire-blue hair)

The Chaos Begins
#

Reyn—night elf priest, silver hair, quiet calm—emerged from meditation room: “How lovely. I’ll make tea while you all—”

Vyr—20,000-year-old dracthyr in crimson armor, baby face energy—flexing: “I can LIFT the tree! Watch!” (crashes through doorway, tree wedged sideways)

Zy—void elf frost mage, chestnut hair, reading glasses—adjusting frames: “The void whispers this is a terrible idea.”

Avel—human paladin, chestnut waves, reluctant leader—in full armor: “We need a PLAN. Sections, assignments—”

Lulu: “Or we just… decorate!” (throws tinsel at everyone)

The Banter
#

Brass (tangled in lights): “WHO bought 500 gold worth of ornaments?!”

Lulu (grinning with tusks showing): “They were shiny!”

Zy: “I respect the commitment to aesthetic excess.”

Brass: “Don’t ENCOURAGE her!”

Reyn (sipping tea): “I remember winter celebrations in Ashenvale. The lanterns in the trees and—”

Everyone: “REYN. NO.”

Vyr (stuck holding tree): “In my time, we didn’t have trees!”

Lulu (hugging her): “That’s so SAD! More decorations for Vyr!”

The Heart
#

Avel stepped back, watching the chaos. Lulu braiding Brass’s sapphire-blue hair with tinsel. Vyr asking Reyn what “stockings” were. Zy secretly enjoying herself.

First home. First Winter Veil. First family that chose each other.

Avel smiled. This was worth every copper.

Lulu (appearing with MORE decorations): “NOW we do the OUTSIDE!”

Brass: “Absolutely not.”

Narrator: They absolutely did the outside.

The Ending
#

That night, house blazing with lights (fire hazard per Brass), six sisters sat around their table.

Home wasn’t the house. Never was.

It was Lulu’s chaos making everyone smile. It was Brass pretending to be annoyed but secretly loving it. It was Vyr discovering her first Winter Veil tradition. It was Reyn’s quiet tea and quiet wisdom. It was Zy’s dry commentary hiding genuine joy. It was Avel realizing she’d found what she’d been searching for.

Family.

Not by blood. Not by fate. By choice.

And maybe that was the greatest gift of all.
