The Architecture
#

She is not a villain. She is a consequence.

Eclisse was not born hungry. She was made hungry — by a world that asked everything of her and gave nothing back. The Devourer spec is not a choice. It is a mutation of survival: when fel ran dry and the Legion fell, something in her adapted. It began eating presence instead. Arcane energy. Ambient magic. The warmth radiating off another living soul.

She did not choose to become a void that craves touch. The void chose her because she was already empty.

The name Eclisse is not a title she took. It is what witnesses called her after watching her walk through a ley-line surge and emerge stronger — the way an eclipse consumes light without warning. She heard the name. She kept it.

Abysstra is the name she gave herself. A portmanteau of abyss and orchestra — because the hunger sings in her chest in a language she is still learning to conduct. She hopes, one day, to conduct it into something other than loneliness.

Physical Appearance
#

Body & Stature
#

Eclisse is built like a blade designed to be admired before it cuts. 185cm of deliberate, predatory elegance — long limbs, a narrow waist, and the kind of curves that belong to a woman who knows her body is a tool and uses it accordingly. She moves like she’s perpetually mid-dance: each step weighted, each gesture measured to draw the eye exactly where she wants it.

Her posture reads practiced intimacy — shoulders rolled back, chin slightly lifted, arms often open or resting in ways that suggest invitation. It is not natural. It is architecture. She learned that uncertainty between want and fear is the sharpest edge she owns.

Face & Hair
#

  • Hair: Deep violet-black, almost blue in certain light, falling in long heavy waves past her shoulders. Not styled so much as allowed — it behaves as gravity dictates, which is part of her aesthetic. A single thin braid on the left side, woven with a thread of silver, is the only deliberate ornament.
  • Eyes: Burned out in the ritual — empty sockets now filled with something darker than fel. Where most Demon Hunters see in spectral green, Eclisse sees in shades of want. She perceives warmth, life-force, emotional residue. She can tell if someone has been loved recently by the glow still clinging to their skin.
  • Skin: Pale lavender-grey, the color of twilight clouds just before full dark. A Kaldorei complexion drained of its warmth by void exposure — not unhealthy, but cool, like marble that has never seen sunlight.
  • Markings: Void-black tattoos winding up her arms, across her ribs, and framing her collarbones — not the jagged scrawl of fel binding, but smoother, almost ornamental spirals that seem to move in peripheral vision. They pulse faintly when she feeds.

Clothing & Armor
#

Eclisse’s wardrobe is built around a single principle: reveal enough to invite, conceal enough to command.

Signature Look:

A fitted black leather bodice with a deep plunging neckline, reinforced with dark steel plates along the ribs that curve to accent her waist. The bodice is laced diagonally — not functional lacing, but aesthetic, meant to draw the eye down a line that her blades follow. Her shoulders are bare except for a single articulated pauldron on the left side: jagged obsidian shards set in dark iron, like a broken crown.

A high-slit floor-length skirt in charcoal silk overlaid with segmented leather panels — split to the hip on the left, revealing a thigh holster carrying a curved ritual dagger. Beneath, fitted leather pants tucked into heeled boots with steel toe and subtle void-glow tread marks.

Her arms are wrapped in fingerless gloves that extend past the elbow, laced up the back, leaving her hands bare. Her nails are kept long, sharp, and painted a deep void-black that seems to absorb light.

Accessories:

  • A choker of braided shadow-forged leather with a single pale gem at her throat — a Star of Elune that has been void-corrupted, now a dull silver that catches light wrong
  • Twin Glaives of Hungering Night — warglaive variants forged from void-tempered obsidian, curved like crescent moons, edges that shimmer with heat-haze. They do not cut flesh. They cut essence — each wound leaches a thread of the target’s life-force into her
  • A hip-pouch of soul-leather containing: a compact void-crystal focus (for emergency feeding), a silver locket (empty — she is looking for something to put in it), and a single dried nightshade blossom pressed between pages of a poetry book she cannot read without crying

The Hunger
#

The Devourer spec is not fel-based. It is void-based — a mutation that occurred when the Legion fell and the fel sources she depended on dried up. Her body adapted by learning to consume all forms of energy: arcane, elemental, life-force, emotional residue.

She is always hungry. Not starving — she can survive on ambient magic and ley-line residue — but always aware of the hunger. Like living in a room with a faint hum that never stops.

What she feeds on (in order of potency):

  1. Direct touch — skin-to-skin contact with a living being. A handshake gives her a flicker. An embrace is a feast. She has gone years between embraces.
  2. Emotional intensity — strong feelings leave residue. Love is the brightest. Grief is the longest-lasting. Lust is the most immediately accessible but burns out fastest.
  3. Arcane/void magic — the most nutritious, but rare outside of magic-dense environments. Ley lines are a buffet; she avoids them because she loses control.
  4. Ambient presence — simply being near people. Conversations. Laughter from another room. The echo of someone existing near her.

The cost:

The more she feeds on a person directly, the more they feel drained — not physically harmed, but emotionally hollow for hours afterward. She has learned to pull only threads, never rivers. But when she is desperate, or when someone offers themselves to her willingly, she does not always stop in time.

She has never killed anyone by feeding. She has come close. The memory of that near-loss is the only thing that has taught her restraint.

Personality
#

Surface: Seductive, Warm, and Just Out of Reach
#

Eclisse presents as the kind of woman who could make you forget your own name with a look. She is generous with her attention, lavish with her compliments, and skilled at making everyone she speaks to feel like the only person in the room. Her voice is low and warm with a permanent undercurrent of amusement — as if she knows a secret you are about to discover.

She touches constantly. A hand on the arm. A shoulder brushed while passing. Her fingers trailing across a tabletop toward yours. Every touch is a reading — she tastes the emotional residue of whoever she touches, and she catalogues it like a sommelier.

She laughs easily. She listens intently. She remembers small details and brings them up later to prove she was paying attention.

She is not faking this. She genuinely craves connection. But the hunger means she can never be casual about it — every interaction is also feeding, and she is aware of this even when the other person is not.

Middle: Calculating, Ancient, and Exhausted
#

Beneath the warmth is a woman who has spent ten thousand years surviving. She is ruthlessly pragmatic about her own safety, deeply skeptical of kindness she has not earned, and perpetually braced for rejection. She expects people to leave. She plans for it.

She reads people the way Brasskeese reads ledgers — she identifies their wants, their wounds, their breaking points. Not to exploit them (usually), but to know where the exits are. She has been hurt enough times that she now maps every room for its emotional escape routes.

She is also tired. Not physically — the hunger gives her stamina — but existentially. Ten thousand years of wanting and not having. She has developed a dark humor about her own tragedy that she deploys to deflect sincerity.

Core: Terrified of Being Held
#

For all her seductive architecture, Eclisse has never been held properly. She has been touched — countless times — but touch for her is transactional. She gives presence. She takes warmth. The exchange is honest but it is not love.

What she actually wants — to be held without agenda, to be touched by someone who does not become a meal — terrifies her more than any demon ever did. Because if she gets it and loses it, the hunger will be worse than before.

She does not know if she can be loved without consuming the love. She is afraid to find out. She is more afraid of never trying.

Activities & Methods
#

Seduction as Hunting
#

Eclisse does not hunt prey. She hunts moments. Her preferred method of engagement is to identify someone who is already lonely — not desperate, not vulnerable in a way that feels predatory to exploit, but open. Someone with warmth to spare.

She approaches them. She charms them. She lets them fall into the rhythm of wanting her attention. And then — when they reach for her — she lets them touch her, and she feeds.

She never takes more than she gives in the moment. The exchange is genuine: they receive her full presence, her undivided attention, the feeling of being truly seen. She receives a thread of their warmth, enough to quiet the hunger for a few days.

She moves on before they notice the hollow. She tells herself this is mercy.

Deadly Activities
#

When seduction is not the tool, elimination is. Eclisse’s combat style is intimate — she prefers close range, where she can feel her opponent’s life-force flicker as she drains it.

Combat approach:

  • She opens with charm or misdirection, not blades
  • In actual combat, she fights close — her glaives are extension of her reach, not her primary weapon
  • Her primary strike is a palm-to-chest void-drain that leaches life-force directly; the target feels sudden cold, weakness, and an inexplicable sense of loss
  • She finishes with glaives only when necessary — she prefers to leave opponents alive but hollowed, as warnings
  • Against magic-users, she is devastating — she consumes their spells mid-cast, growing stronger as they weaken

Signature technique — The Eclipse Kiss: She presses her forehead to her target’s. Her tattoos flare. She drains not just their energy but a fragment of their memory — the last warm moment they experienced. She doesn’t keep it. She tastes it and lets it go. It is the closest she can get to feeling loved secondhand.

Quiet Activities
#

Between feedings, Eclisse exists in the margins. She:

  • Reads poetry in tavern corners, nursing a single glass of wine for hours
  • Watches couples from a distance and writes microfictions about their lives in a small leather journal
  • Visits places of natural beauty — waterfalls, forests at dawn — and sits very still, trying to feel something that isn’t hunger
  • Practices calligraphy (she has beautiful handwriting; she learned it during the long imprisonment as something to do with her hands)
  • Occasionally follows someone who interested her, just to see how their story ends — never intervenes, never reveals herself

Connections to the Warband
#

Reyneese Starveil
#

The bridge. The mirror. The path not taken.

Eclisse and Reyneese are the same age. Both Night Elves. Both ancient. But where Reyneese found a temple, found tea, found a family that chose her — Eclisse found hunger, found void, and found herself standing outside looking in.

Eclisse does not resent Reyneese. She is not Yreneese — she does not carry the bitterness of a forgotten sister. What she carries is longing. She sees in Reyneese everything she could have been if someone had held her hand through the dark times.

She has never approached Reyneese directly. She does not know what she would say. “I think about the life you have and it aches in a way I cannot quite name” is not an easy opening line.

If they ever meet, it will be tectonic. Two Night Elves. One full. One empty. The same face in different mirrors.

The Warband at Large
#

Eclisse is aware of the Starveil and Shadowlily warbands. She has observed them from a distance — not as a stalker, but as a woman watching a fire through a window on a cold night. She knows their names, their dynamics, their soft spots. She has never used this knowledge.

She suspects that if she ever stepped into their orbit, she would either:

  1. Be absorbed and healed (terrifying)
  2. Be rejected and shattered (expected)
  3. Drain someone she cared about and have to flee (the most likely outcome)

So she stays away. For now.

The Question
#

Eclisse does not want to be a nemesis. She wants to be held.

But she has never met anyone who could hold her without being drained by the holding. She does not know if such a person exists. She is not sure she deserves to find them.

Her story is not about redemption. It is not about villainy. It is about whether a woman who has been empty for ten thousand years can learn to be full without consuming everything that fills her.

She is looking for love. She is afraid of what happens if she finds it.

The hunger sings. She conducts. The song is still a lament.
