“I don’t name things so they stay. I name them so someone knows they were here.”
Tactical Chronicle: The Smallest Crown #
Golden hour pours across the cliff meadow in thick honey bloom, pollen drifting like slow sparks over the harbor far below. The warband’s maps are still arguing in the war room. Out here, Lulureese — all one hundred and ninety-three centimeters of straight-backed Darkspear, lilac skin warm under the Kaldorei crown, lime-green ponytail catching the last light — has already decided the important work is smaller.
Ribbert sits on the mossy stone with his usual skeptical expression. She kneels anyway, closed traveler’s boots careful among the stems, and sets a crown of tiny wildflowers between his eyes. Orchid face-paint catches the chromatic edge of the sunset. Her glowing teal eyes are soft, and not naive.
She whispers a name that is not Ribbert’s. One of the Unmade. A fragment from the Legion loops who dissolved when the broken time collapsed — no grave, no record, only her memory. The flower crown is not a joke. It is a grave marker small enough to carry.
Ribbert croaks once, unimpressed, and does not hop away.
“There,” Lulureese says, smiling like sunrise chosen on purpose. “Now the meadow knows you too.”
The pollen keeps falling. Somewhere below, a harbor bell rings. She stands fully upright, Cenarion feathers stirring, and walks back toward the camp with one more name kept alive in the light.
