The Cover
#

Talyareese presents as a Kul Tiran woman: tall at 203cm, broad-shouldered, the build of someone who has spent years on working ships. Dark weathered complexion consistent with a maritime life. Heavy, practical clothing — nothing decorative unless the room requires it. Moves with the deliberate economy of someone who has long since stopped spending effort on performances that don’t pay.

She is cold. Measured. Opaque. Speaks in the flat, specific way of someone who has learned that words are currency and does not spend them casually. Multilingual without advertising it — she uses whatever language closes the deal faster and switches without announcement.

Her backstory, as told to Shadowlily: a trading partnership that ended in deliberate betrayal. Livelihood destroyed. Trust: irreparable. She joined Shadowlily for resources and stays for something she won’t name.

The backstory is constructed. Emotionally, it is accurate about the grief and loss of trust. In detail, it is entirely false.

The Truth
#

Talyareese is Kiyareese.

The Zandalari engineering prodigy who carries Ninety-Seven in everything she builds. The person who chose warmth deliberately from the wreckage of Dazar’alor and has been choosing it every morning since. The operative running under Hiyorieese’s network without knowing it.

She is the same person.

Why the persona exists: Kiyareese needed to run intelligence channels in Alliance ports without tracing back to her Horde identity. The Orb of Deception provided the race transformation. The rest — voice, carriage, presentation, the cold — she built herself, watching Shiyaorieese.

The mechanism: The Orb of Deception baseline runs five minutes. Kiyareese engineered an extension rig: three stacked Orb activations in rotating sequence, fourth held in reserve, fitted into a forearm housing worn under Talyareese’s sleeve. Indefinite duration with maintenance. Eleven prototypes to stabilize. The eleventh works.

The construction method: Shiya builds identity in deliberate layers — the outer presentation crafted around what she wants to project, not what she has. The gap between them is the work. Kiya observed this from close range, took notes in inscription cipher, said nothing. She applied the method. The Orb handles the race. The layers handle the person.

What Talyareese Is
#

Kiyareese with the daily choice removed.

The warmth Kiya carries is genuine — but it is chosen, every morning, the way Lulureese chooses it. Talyareese is what exists when the choice isn’t made. Not performance, not falsehood. A real internal state Kiya built from her own material, available because she knew exactly where to find it.

The cold pragmatism is not foreign. It is one of her modes. She just doesn’t live there.

Talyareese lives there. Uses warmth as a tool when the tool is required, with control Kiyareese’s natural warmth doesn’t have. The effect is different: where Kiya’s warmth makes people like her, Talyareese’s warmth makes people trust her. These are not the same thing. She chose this as a feature.

The name 塔力: Tower of Strength. Deliberate inversion of 喜矢’s joy-and-precision. Strength without joy. She chose this name before she was done with the sea. She has not revisited the choice. She is aware she should examine why she built the opposite of herself and has not done so.

The Sea Exile — Construction Period
#

The Talyareese persona was built during two years of exile between Dazar’alor and Shadowlily.

Kiyareese left Zandalar carrying Ninety-Seven and engine tools. She paid passage in repairs. Port to port, the Southern Seas to Northrend: Booty Bay (Spanish-speaking Southern Seas trader networks), Pandaria-adjacent routes (Korean and Chinese trade communities, Jade Forest ports, Valley of Four Winds), Northrend coasts (Kul Tiran maritime tradition, Russian-register language).

The first Orb experiment was practical: she needed Alliance port access. The transformation held longer than documented baseline. She investigated why. She improved it. By the Northrend ports she had the extension rig working at prototype stage. By the end of the sea years she had a functional persona, a working mechanism, and eleven failed prototypes she kept for reference.

She was building Talyareese before she named her. The name came last.

Physical Appearance — Talyareese Form
#

  • Height: 203cm — Kul Tiran frame is tall and broad; the transformation maintains Zandalari proportions without visual incongruity
  • Build: Maritime-weathered. The physique of someone who has actually worked on ships, not someone who is performing the type
  • Skin: Transformed to Kul Tiran complexion — dark weathered tone consistent with extended seafaring
  • Hair: Dark, practical. Kept functional. No decoration.
  • Hands: The inscription staining on the right hand and mechanical oil on the left are deep enough to show under magnification at close range. This is the tell Moryeese identified first.
  • Pets: The menagerie follows her across identities. A Kul Tiran with a dino companion and a mechanical raptor is unusual. Nobody has asked. Moryeese asked indirectly by filing a report.
  • Voice: Russian-register cadence in the maritime community dialect. Flat. Economic. Switches languages mid-sentence when the situation calls for it, without warning or apology.

The Menagerie
#

Both identities travel with the same pets. Three named dino companions (formal hunting designations that have accidentally become terms of endearment). One mechanical raptor — first built at sea, for company, not function. One mechanical spider-bot she originally built for security purposes and then kept. One clockwork triceratops currently categorized as “structural optimization.”

Talyareese is known in Shadowlily as having unusual pets for a Kul Tiran. No one has drawn the line to Kiyareese’s equally unusual collection. The pets are the cleanest evidence. Moryeese’s visor confirmed the shimmer; the dino confirmed the identity.

Role Inside Shadowlily
#

Talyareese and Kiyareese operate as separate guild members within Shadowlily. They do not interact in shared spaces — one or the other is present, never both.

Talyareese’s stated function: mercenary contractor, transactional intelligence, cold-utility logistics. She does the work nobody wants to do and charges for it without attachment.

The intelligence channels she runs do not route to Kiyareese’s network. Separate buyers. Separate client relationships. Separate invoicing. Where Kiyareese’s warmth opens doors, Talyareese’s control closes deals.

Giselleese has not commented on the two members being the same person. This is not the same as not knowing.

Hiyorieese has noted the dual presence in her operational file. She has not acted on this information. She has noted that both operatives are more effective together than either is alone, which is to say: she has not acted on it for reasons that serve her operational requirements, and for other reasons she has not filed.

Discovery
#

Moryeese confirmed the identity via far-sight field observation, current season.

The tells, in order of identification:

  1. The structural joint check before sitting. Kiyareese always checks the joints of furniture before weight-bearing. Talyareese did it at a dock tavern in the same sequence, same hand, same pause.
  2. The inscription staining (right) and mechanical oil (left) visible under visor magnification.
  3. The dino companion. A small raptor, wearing a designation tag. The tag format matched Kiyareese’s designation system.
  4. Visor shimmer at maximum gamma — the specific resonance pattern of a modified Orb of Deception extension activation, identified from prior Wowhead cross-reference.

Moryeese filed the report. Distribution: pending. She has not yet identified the correct operational framework for disseminating this information. She invoiced for the observation. She did not invoice for the philosophical complication.

Arc Threads
#

  • The moment of confrontation: when someone who knows both personas encounters them in the same room, or names one to the other’s face. Neither has happened yet.
  • The Shiya parallel: Kiya used Shiya’s technique without asking. Shiya will find out. How she receives this is an open question — violation, recognition, or something more complicated.
  • The Hiyo thread: Hiyo knows. She has not acted. The moment she acts on it is the moment both operatives are weaponized in the same direction simultaneously. This is the reason she hasn’t acted: she is waiting for the correct moment to apply it.
  • The Vol’Shi-Naq resonance: when Kiya discovers she was an unwitting operative, the second revelation is Talyareese — the self she built that was also being used, on a parallel track, without her knowing the channels converged. Both personas, both unknowing. Hiyo was the frame around both of them.

Fun Facts
#

  • The mechanical raptor from the sea years has a designation Kiyareese insists is functional. The designation is “First.” She has had him longest. She does not examine this.
  • In the Russian-register maritime dialect, Talyareese has been mistaken for a Kul Tiran native three times. She found this satisfying in a way she did not analyze.
  • She has rebuilt two chairs at Shadowlily guild hall while operating as Talyareese. Different chairs than the ones Kiyareese rebuilt. The originals were also Kiyareese’s. There are now six structurally excellent chairs in a guild hall that started with four mediocre ones. Nobody has connected this.
  • Talyareese drinks strong tea. Kiyareese drinks strong tea. This is the one variable she did not adjust for and could theoretically be the tell that ends everything. So far: nobody drinks tea with enough attention to notice.
